The Market Lodge, or Loggia del Mercato, is in via Rocco Pirri, behind Palazzo Nicolaci. Located in a large squared open space, the lodge is the ancient seat of the city market. The shops of the fishmongers and butchers were located into twelve small rooms covered by a beautiful loggia in wrought iron. The wall around the arches is elegantly colored using contrasts of turquoise and yellow sand tones. At the center of the open space of the Lodge, paved with river stones, there is a small stone bathtub in yellow limestone. The lodge belongs to the City of Noto, and the place is used to organize art exhibitions, such as cultural, food and wine festivals and concerts.
